Barron River Rafting | Afternoon
the Raging Thunder Barron River Half Day tour gives guests a half-day rafting trip on the Barron River near Cairns. The tour includes around 2 hours on the water through Barron Gorge National Park, with grade 2 and 3 rapids along the way. Guests meet their River Guide for a safety briefing and paddling instructions before heading onto the river. Rafts carry up to seven passengers plus a guide, and no previous rafting experience is needed. Transfers from Cairns and the Northern Beaches are available, and change rooms are available after rafting.

Itinerary
Pick-Up from Cairns and Northern Beaches
Pick-ups begin from Cairns and the Northern Beaches between 2:00pm and 3:00pm. Guests travel to Lake Placid, where the rafting part of the afternoon begins.
Self-Drive Meeting at Lake Placid
Self-drive guests meet the group at 3:00pm at Lake Placid Car Park. From here, the group continues toward Barron Gorge for the start of the rafting experience.
Safety Briefing and Paddling Instructions
At around 3:15pm, guests meet their River Guide for a safety briefing and paddling instructions. This session explains how the rafting works and prepares everyone for the river.
Rafting on the Barron River
Rafting starts at around 3:30pm on the Barron River. Guests spend about 2 hours on the water, moving through grade 2 and 3 rapids while taking in the surroundings of Barron Gorge National Park. Each raft carries up to seven passengers and one River Guide, and no prior experience is required.
Take-Out Point and Photo Viewing
At around 5:30pm, the group reaches the take-out point. Guests can change into dry clothes before heading to Lake Placid Tourist Park, where trip photos can be viewed.
Return Transfers
Return transfers begin at around 5:45pm, taking guests back to their accommodation in Cairns or the Northern Beaches.
